St. Mary's Primary School, Zimbabwe

One of my favorite places to be is a classroom, so I was very happy we went to St. Mary's Primary School.  The school has over 800 students, most classes with over 40 students.  We visited a primary classroom and a 6th grade class.

The principal gave us a tour of the campus and showed us the school's computer room which is the most popular place on campus.  There are about 30 computers for the entire school and, since there is no internet, educational programs are loaded on them for students to access.

We were impressed with the level of math (geometry) the 6th graders were studying.  The students were anxious to see photos on my phone, especially of the African wildlife we'd seen.  They laughed at the photos I took of them with their classmates. Most of the 6th graders had a career path in mind; the favorite was pilot.  The school is highly rated for its students' academic success and the fact that nearly 100% of its students go on to secondary school.
