Happy New Year from Southeast Asia!

After more hours than I care to think  about, we landed in Bangkok just as the clock was striking midnight.  Fireworks were plentiful and our hotel was decorated for Christmas.  Our guide told us , "The Thai people are Buddhist,  but we're flexible. "  :)  My first meal of 2014 was fresh pineapple,  mango, watermelon,  and Thai pork stew.  Yum!

Then we took a 2 hour plane ride to Hanoi. It was strange to hear "Feliz Navidad" on a Vietnam plane going to Hanoi.  This is my first trip to Asia, and I think I can say I've now been to a "third world city".  I'm glad I have my masks and inhaler along as the pollution is bad.

The following photos are street scenes in Hanoi.
