We were warned before coming that Scottish "cuisine" leaves much to be desired. Maybe because of that warning we have been pleasantly surprised so far. There is a lot of fish, meat pies called pasties (pronounced past-ies), potatoes, wonderful hearty soups and, of course, local beer and Scotch whiskey.
